My friend just received a rather cryptic email about an emergency at UCSB. Apparently there was a more descriptive txt message that went out that indicates a possible gunman. My friend just tried to log into the alert website, but forgot his password. He’s now locked out.
We find it slightly humorous that if the gunman is a student and remembers his password, he’ll have better access to information than we do.
My friend’s reddit post.
We’re about a mile from campus, so we’re safe. We just heard sirens go by. Maybe I should sign up for an alert account. I’m only a little concerned that my last email from school was a flu update.
Update
Signing up for an account did me no good. Apparently I’m not allowed to view alerts that were sent before my account was created.
Update 2
Investigation indicates no weapon or actual threat.
At least someone can get current information.
