Every once in a while, I see something that makes me feel like a happy optimist. Observe:

I thought MarketWatch wanted people to take them seriously. See, I operate under no such pretense. While I predict a catastrophe, all of the bad possibilities I anticipate would have to happen for this scenario. Just as I have little faith that central bankers and our elected officials will be able to navigate these waters without hitting an iceberg or two, it would be more incredible if they managed to hit all of them. Even the “Happy Conspiracy Insiders” would spend some effort avoiding this outcome. There are only so many secret volcano utopia lairs to go around.
