February Auto Numbers
The February numbers have come in from the automakers (source, source).
- Ford up 43.1%
- GM up 11.5%
- Toyota down 8.7%
- Honda up 12.7%
- Nissan up 29.4%
- Hyundai up 11%
- Chrysler/Fiat flat (up 399 vehicles)
- Subaru up 38%
Overall, that was an SAAR of 10.38 million cars and trucks. That’s up from 9.17 million a year ago, but down from 10.8 million in January (not a directly comparable figure). Most notable is the fact that Ford outsold GM in February. That’s a first in 12 years.
In other auto related news, GM recalls 1.3 million compact cars over steering.
