Nothing really noteworthy seemed to happen today. The Dow closed below 10,000, but this hardly seems noteworthy given recent volatility. There isn’t even a big set of “must reads” open in a bunch of browser tabs I want to close.
Instead, I’ll share some things I found at least moderately interesting or entertaining.
Paul Farrell Sees Dow Sinking Below 6,470, End Of Capitalism And Great Depression II Imminent - Good, alarmist headline, but there’s nothing particularly new in this. Perhaps some things aren’t discussed as frequently as others. Perhaps there’s interest in the fact that this seems to be a bit of a timing call. Somewhat enjoyable and interesting, so it qualifies.
Australia Capitulates, Backs Down On Resource Super-Profits Tax - This is only news of the “sorry, that old news turns out not to be news after all” variety. Since I mentioned the super-tax previously, I should also mention this. I’m not sure this is interesting or entertaining beyond the headline, but the headline squeaks by on a technicality.
We’re probably going to hit $13 trillion in debt tomorrow - Now I’m really reaching. This doesn’t qualify as either interesting or entertaining. Seriously, what is wrong with me? I refresh this page every day, and I monitor all treasury auctions, so … click and refresh tomorrow.
At least the calendar is kind to me. I’ll have something to write about tomorrow morning by virtue of it being a Thursday.
