Some victories just sound better than others. Implicit in celebrating this victory is acknowledging the fact that American automakers have produced unreliable crap for the past 20 years. Emphasis in original:
For the first time ever, the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study has found America’s automakers build new models with fewer problems than their foreign competitors.
Ford, the only domestic brand to make the brand quality list, comes in at number 5. Ford beat Honda, but not Acura. Ford beat Toyota, but not Lexus. Lincoln, Ford’s own luxury brand, doesn’t make the list. Porsche and Mercedes also make the list above Ford. Apparently luxury also means quality abroad, but not domestically.
